Bitchin’ Sauce is the bomb.
If you haven’t tried it before, you need to.
It tastes nutty, zesty and savory all at the same time.
This almond-based dip is perfect for almost everything and you can even enjoy it on its own!
Best of all, it is vegan, plant-based and completely gluten-free!
The Bitchin’ Sauce was first sold in farmers’ markets in San Diego and quickly became very popular with everyone.
You can now find it in many grocery stores and even buy them online now.
But nothing beats a homemade Bitchin’ Sauce that you can make in less than 5 minutes!
You get to control exactly what you put inside and you can even modify the recipe to your liking (although the base recipe is already super awesome)!
Ingredients
Here are the ingredients required for the Ultimate Bitchin’ Sauce recipe:
- Raw almonds: This gives the addictive nutty flavor to the sauce. You can choose to soak them 2 hours beforehand if you want to soften and plump them up. But it’s perfectly fine to skip this step. The high speed blender will not have any trouble blending at all.
- Water: The water serves to combine everything together and forms the base of the sauce.
- Grapeseed oil: You can substitute it with any neutral oil such as canola oil or sunflower oil.
- Lemon juice: The lemon juice helps to add a zesty and tangy flavor to the sauce.
- Nutritional yeast: This is popular for vegan food because it has a nutty and cheesy flavor and is also a good source of Vitamin B.
- Bragg Liquid Aminos: If you look at the ingredients list of the original product, you will see it listed as soy sauce. But this is the secret ingredient and you might have to hunt for it a bit.
- Garlic: Adds additional layer of depth to the flavor.
- Salt: You can use kosher salt, sea salt or normal table salt.
- Cumin powder: Adds additional layer of depth to the flavor.
- Chili powder: Adds a little kick to the sauce.
- Coriander powder: Adds additional layer of depth to the flavor.
- Paprika powder: Adds additional layer of depth to the flavor.
Kitchen Equipment
The equipment required for the Ultimate Bitchin’ Sauce recipe is very simple as you only require one main item:
- High-powered blender: We will be blending all the ingredients to create the sauce. A food processor might work as well but it will have a more inconsistent texture if that is what you prefer.
Instructions
The Ultimate Bitchin’ Sauce recipe is quick and easy to follow:
- Add all ingredients
Place all the ingredients into a blender that is able to reach high-speed. - Blend till smooth
Slowly blend all the ingredients for a minute before turning it up to high speed and continue blending till desired consistency. One or two minutes should be sufficient to reach a smooth and creamy texture. - Storing the excess sauce
For storing any excess sauce, transfer it to an airtight container or jar and refrigerate it. It will be good for up to a week but it will not last that long as it’s too yummy!
Tip #1: After refrigerating the sauce, there might be some separation but not to worry, it’s normal due to the oil and it’s still safe for consumption. Just give it a good stir and it will be as good as new!
Tip #2: Bragg Liquid Aminos might be more expensive than normal soy sauce and harder to find, but it has a sweeter taste and full of umami flavor. We recommend not to substitute this with soy sauce.
Both nutritional yeast and Bragg Liquid Aminos can be found in Whole Foods.
